For years ... decades, really ... I worked in film, television, and video production.
Consistently when gathered about a color monitor, to watch a take or view a program, the engineer or technician or EIC or whoever would always caveat playback with a disclaimer about the color or settings of the video monitor.
"Don't judge the color by that monitor" was always the warning admonished to the audience.
So I thought I'd use that phrase to describe my comments, when I see or hear something of note in mass media, television, and electronic communications in general. The postings here will be my thoughts and opinions.
Colored through my perspective and experience.
You can decide for yourself. But don't judge from this monitor.

- I started out in the late 1970s in newspapers, wandering into radio and finally ending up on the studio production crew for a midwest PBS station, after a couple months drinking with them at a bar each night (job requirement at the time, apparently). Spent next thirty years as migrant video worker, following the TV production harvest across the globe (China, Germany, Japan, Finland, Uzbekistan). In 2000, with hauling twenty cases of film gear around the country losing the sheen it once had, I accepted a position as media department head at a large regional theatre company complex. But after five years, a new incoming chairman closed my department, sold off the studio and post facility and sent my staff packing. Following two years of study, I finished my Masters degree in Multimedia Communications from AAU San Francisco and accepted a tenure track faculty position in the Communications Arts and Sciences Department at Metropolitan State University of Denver as a Broadcasting faculty member and program director at WCAS Radio. Retiring in May of 2017, now I sit on the sidelines and laugh.
